Been thinking. Since my blog site is called In The Garage With God, that maybe I should tell you a bit of what goes on in that garage. And how I came to meet God there. Looking at the picture above, you might be saying to yourself, “What a broken down piece of work that is.” Yep.
Well, you got it! And guess what, if you take that broken down old building with the wreck of a car inside it, you got me pegged. Of course it’s a metaphor…..but’s it’s a true reflection of the old dude that’s sharing these musings with you.
I was a broken wreck that God somehow took and reworked into as near a resemblance of humanity as he could. And just as the garage, I am still in need of occasional repair. Never gonna stand up straight on my own.
Quite a repair job he did on me. And then to top it all, he started visiting me in my garage. Now, the garage is the only place my wife lets me smoke those “stinky cigars” as she calls them. So, naturally, I spend a good deal of time out there. Talking to God….praying…..asking him to give me some feedback on my life. Course he almost always does. Though not always in the manner I expected. And there was some feedback I’d just as soon not have received.
But I have to tell you, there have been some spiritual moments in my garage when I have experienced the presence of the living God. Jesus has spoken to and touched me in so many ways during my communion with him, it boggles my mind. These musings I have written came to me in my garage, mostly after my visit from Jesus.
Man, does he inspire me. I pray my musings do the same for you and I hope that they make you pause a moment and contemplate them. If you like my musings, encourage me to do more by commenting below. I love encouraging comments. As for criticism on them, include those too but be gentle. I am broken enough already. Have at it.
When my last breath
was my last breath,
there was a millisecond of vastness
when I remembered my first breath.
And
dimmed the in between.
O’ Glory to God
The First and the Last.
The Alpha and the Omega.
The wonders of birth and death

A lot of tools hang on the walls
of my garage.
A friend once asked if I had used
all those tools.
“Some more than once,” I replied.
God asked me if I had used all the
tools he had given me.
“Some more than once,” I replied.
It looked like he frowned,
but I think he was smiling.

“Why do you think God is so good,” he asked.
“Why do you think he isn’t,” I replied.
A
hot cup of soup,
a good book
And
A bowl of fine tobacco
on a cold day
would go a long way in answering that mystery.

Wondering.
Has it?

My friend is plagued
by his misdeeds
He doesn’t know what to do.
I mention God
and
he cringes
I told him to move out of
the house he is living in.
He looked bewildered.
